I love it when you find another writer who truly connects with you and your muse. It’s amazing because the writing that comes out of the partnership is the most beautiful thing. There’s so much chemistry.

He bent to the place where she lay motionless amidst the melting snow. He tilted his decorated head a little to the side and softly touched her cheek with the utmost tips of his bedazzled fingers. The faintest of smiles curled his crimson lips as he stroked a frosted curl from her eyes, purring against her ear. "Time to come home."

How long would it take death to come? How long had she laid there? She didn’t know. She didn’t care. She just longed for it all to stop, for her body to stop denying her freedom from her failure.

It seemed an eternity before the first shiver ran through her and the snow finally began to stick. Soon it would finally be over.

And then the hallucinations began, as if to torment her more in her final hours. His touch on her face his voice in her ear…even his scent, though faint, wafted over her before being swept away by the wind.

“Time to come home.”

She dug her nails into the newly frozen puddle beneath her, wondering why her mind would do this to her. She shivered violently, trying to will away the belief that he had come for her. He would never come for her. He’d cast her out. Kefka had no use for a broken doll.

Yet she relented, weakly twisting her body so that she could wind her arms about the neck of who she knew not to be there. They closed about something solid, and she wondered if hallucinations could be so powerful as to make one imagine a physical form. She cracked her eyes open as far as the icy crusting around her lashes would allow and saw his face in the pale light breaching the storm clouds. Suddenly, she wasn’t sure if he was imaginary or not…

“Thank…you,” she rasped through her bluing lips.

She allowed herself to believe that he was really there. If she could spend her last hours convinced of a happy lie, then so be it.
